Earlier in the season than expected, we received some homegrown tomatoes.  These are prized, precious possessions and rationed accordingly.  Hence, these tomatoes are served as the main course for a summer dinner at our house.

Now sandwiches are very personally constructed around here.  And so, with all the ingredients placed in precise order around the table we pass family style and then everyone makes their own.  1) Bread, 2) mayo, 3) lettuce, 4) bacon, 5) tomato, 6) garlic cream cheese.  It's sometimes a bit of a challenge to get everyone's sandwich made without having to repass some item, but never do I hear complaints when BLTs are for dinner.  Together with some Fordhook lima beans, this meal will satisfy everyone ...........until dessert.  We had ice cream sandwiches.

Garlic Cream Cheese

8 oz cream cheese

1/2 Cup mayonnaise

2 lg clove garlic, pressed

Mash together all ingredients.  Serve as sandwich spread or cheese spread on crackers.
