  • Docent of Glory

Witnessing for Christ isnt as difficult as I make it out to be, as indicated in this well-written article by T M Moore, Can I Get A Witness. The imagery, language, and Scriptural references are powerful. I commend it to your attention.

This essay stimulates my perspective because I can picture myself as a docent of glory, coming up beside someone and pointing out something previously unknown to him/her.  I particularly liked Mr Moore's use of his visit to the Wyeth Museum in Pennsylvania.  But I think the idea is to recognize that witnessing can take place no matter where you are and no matter in what capacity you serve/work.  I just need to be reminded not to scare people when I approach them quietly :)

Witnessing is further explained in  I Thess 5:11 where Paul reminds us "to encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."  That's what a guide does...encourages us to look a little longer at the picture (creation, culture, conscience), not just skimming the highlights, but regarding the work in search of the valuable information (Jesus).

    So, that's the criteria.

    Encourage.    Build up.
